The Importance of the Humane Society
Back in the days prior to the establishment of the Humane Society of the United States, there was so much cruelty meted out on animals in labs, slaughterhouses and puppy mills. The key objective of the founding of the Humane Society of the United States was actually founded for the main objective of checking on such unkind treatments to which these animals were subjected. The main objective of the Humane Society of the United States is to study laws, be out on the forefront and try as much as they can to change laws that seem to permit for cruel treatment of animals during animal lab testing, in the fashion industry and the other industries. There has as well been established an international arm of Humane Society of the United States, known as the HSI, Humane Society International. This body and arm of the Humane Society is as well concerned with the need to address the inhumane practices and habits that animals, pet and farm animals face, the dangers facing the endangered species, killing of the marine species, and as well the use of animals in research and testing.
Taking a look back at what was in the HSUS Annual Report of 2001, it was lucidly reiterated that the core mission of the society ever since it was founded in the year 1954 was to create a humane and sustainable world for all animals and persons via education, advocacy and the championing of respect and compassion. It has a strong commitment to protecting all animals using a wide array of means falling under the HSUS Major Initiatives.
The Humane Society has a diverse range of programs that see them support responsible pet ownership and encourage the doing away with the brutality in trapping and hunting. Like we have already touched on above, it advocates for animal protection and passing of laws touching on animal welfare. This is the body that can be said to police and track the enforcement of the laws that are there already that tend to advance animal protection. If at all there be any form of cruel treatment of research animals and the cases of abuse of animals used in racing, films and circuses, the Humane Society will be there to expose such treatments. Looking at these facts, the Humane Society comes in to make such a mark of effect in the lives and well-being of animals the world over.
Acts such as abandonment and neglect of pets will be addressed effectively all to the advocacy and education done by the Humane Society.
